What do you do when you run out of potatoes or fancy something a little different from the bog standard spud?

Well, let me show you in this Hax.

From your pantry, I’ll introduce you to delicious, simple and divine alternatives for chips, roasties and mash (for all recipes just click through).

Recipe & Information

ALL YOU NEED :

CHIPS : Kumara : Knife or apple Slicer (see Perfectly Cut Chips Hax), oven tray
ROASTED : Swede : peeler, knife, chopping board, oven tray
MASH : Cannellini Beans (DRAINED) : Knife, saucepan, spoon, hand blender, will power (so you don’t eat it all in the pan!)

 

HOW TO :

CHIPS : 1 -2 Kumara Peeled & chipped. 50g Garlic, Herb & Chilli Butter Hax, melted
PROCESS : Preheat oven to 180 + Spread kumara over lightly greased oven tray in one layer + Drizzle over the melted butter + season with salt and pepper + pop in the oven for 15mins, turn over then + back in the oven and roast until crispy & golden.
RECIPE IDEAS : Buffalo Chicken Loaded Kumara Fries

ROASTED : 1/2 Swede, peeled and sliced, 2 tbsp Garlic, Herb & Chilli Oil Hax.
PROCESS : Preheat oven to 180 + toss swede in oil & season + place on lightly greased oven tray + roast until crisp and golden + remove from oven + garnish with grated parmesan and chopped fresh herbs + taste, season, serve

MASH : 2 tbsp Garlic, Herb & Chilli Oil Hax + 1 small onion, diced + 1 tin Cannellini Beans (DRAINED) + ¼ cup milk (or vegetable stock).
PROCESS : Pour oil in pan + add the onion and gently cook until soft + add the beans + toss through the flavoured onion mixture + pour in the milk (stock) + cook for 2 minutes + remove from heat + blend to a mash + taste, season, serve.
RECIPE IDEAS : Cannellini Bean Topped Chicken and Veggie Pies
